Making a Second Home for Families

Melissa and Joey were traveling to the area for a camping gateway. What was intended to be a brief vacation turned into the beginning of the journey to meeting their baby girl.
“We were visiting my boyfriend’s brother for the weekend. Long story short I went into labor (all while camping)! After getting transferred and being admitted l, I could only think of how far we were from home and our families. [At that point] I had no idea what the Ronald McDonald House does for families.” Melissa and Joey were more than 350 miles from home when their baby girl arrived earlier than expected.
When they learned their baby would need an extended day in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Melissa and Joey needed a place to stay while their daughter was in the hospital. That’s when they were introduced to the Ronald McDonald House, where they would stay for 90 nights.
“I have no words to express the gratitude we have. Knowing that we had a place to stay, volunteers to come to cook meals, we were so close to the hospital and the emotional support we had was all truly such a blessing. The Ronald McDonald House was there for us when we were going through what we call one of the most terrifying, yet beautiful experiences ever.”

While the cost of what we do is high, we do not charge families for their stay. Any donation, big or small, will help Ronald McDonald House families continue to have a place of rest and support when they need it the most.
