Requirements to stay at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia
Families traveling far from home call Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern West Virginia “home” while their children receive medical care at an area hospital. We work closely with our hospital partners to provide families with a comfortable and caring place to stay for as long as they need us.
The patient must be 21 years old or younger and receiving medical treatment at an area hospital or appointment at an area physician's office. Families must live at least 25 miles from Charleston.
Family members must obtain a referral from a social worker at an area hospital or physician's office.
Guests 18 years old or older must individually complete a background check authorization form (either online or by paper) and have photo identification at check-in.
Once all referral paperwork is received from the referring hospital or physician's office and all background checks are processed, a staff member will contact you to conduct a wellness prescreening.

Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
