Meals that Heal
Help families spend less time cooking and more time together
Bring your favorite recipe to our House
Families shouldn’t have to worry about where their next meal will come from while they are caring for their hospitalized children. Whether you cater or cook a meal, you are giving Ronald McDonald House families the comfort of a warm, home-cooked meal that makes them feel close to home, even when they are miles away.

Meal Program FAQs
Can I make food ahead of time and drop my food off on my scheduled date?
All food preparation and cooking must be done on RMHC property or in a commercially licensed kitchen to comply with health and safety regulations. Store-bought food items must be in their original, unopened packaging.
How many people should I prepare for?
We recommend contacting the House the day prior to your scheduled date to get an estimate of how many guests are staying at the House.
What do I need to bring to make my meal?
Please bring all the ingredients that your meal will require. Before opening your condiments please check our House pantry and refrigerator for any open condiments and/or anything you would like to add to your meal.
How many people can I have in my group?
We ask that groups be kept to 8 volunteers. If you have a larger group, we suggest you split your group up into multiple days. If you have questions about your group size, please contact Betsy Plants at betsy@charlestonrmhc.org or call (304) 346-0279.
Can my school group volunteer to cook a meal?
All student groups must have at least one (1) adult supervisor at all times. The adult must be the one to sign the group up in our volunteer portal.
Grab-and-Go Snacks
One thing families love while staying at a Ronald McDonald House is not having to worry about spending money on vending machine snacks or ordering delivery while caring for their children at an area hospital. Volunteer-created grab-and-go bags provide families with a satisfying meal after long hours of tests and treatments.
This is a great way for groups of any size to be involved! Snack bags can be assembled off-site or at the Ronald McDonald House – whatever works best for your group!

Make a Difference for Families & Children
Parents don’t know when their children will need medical help. But they should know they can always access the care they need. And with your help, we can support them all throughout their journey.
