Little things can make a big difference. You can help support the Ronald McDonald House by collecting the tabs from aluminum cans. The funds generated from recycling help offset the House’s expenses. Collecting tabs can be an easy and fun project. Many groups such as schools, corporations, clubs, and communities participate in this program and it’s a simple way to make a big difference. Collecting pop tabs is a great program that benefits the Ronald McDonald House families and is easy to organize.
Pop tabs can be delivered to the Ronald McDonald House between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. seven days a week. You can also drop your pop tabs off at your local participating McDonald’s restaurant or Capitol Recycling Center located at 609 48th Street, SE in Charleston. You can call the Capitol Recycling Center at (304) 925-8942.
Depending on the present value of aluminum, the value of the tabs average 38 to 50 cents per pound. There are approximately 1,267 tabs in a pound, but the pounds quickly add up! Our goal is to collect a ton of tabs a quarter (2,524,00 tabs, which is over $1,000 for the house!). Why Pop Tabs and not cans? Tabs can be cleaned and stored more easily than cans.
